The first step of your journey to a smile with straight teeth is meeting with Dr. Friedman to decide if Invisalign is right for your unique circumstances. If the answer is yes, then we’ll take x-rays, photos and impressions of your teeth that Invisalign will use to create a 3D image of your mouth. With this, Dr. Friedman will map out a treatment plan that shows how your teeth will gradually move through the process and what your smile will look like upon completion.
This treatment plan is also what the Invisalign lab uses to fabricate your custom-designed aligners, which you’ll wear every day for most of the day. Made of smooth, BPA-free plastic, your aligners are smooth, so they won’t bother your gums and checks the way metal braces can.
Your aligners come in a series of sets for your upper and lower arches. You’ll wear each set for approximately two weeks and then move on to the next set. As you progress through the sets, you’ll see your teeth gradually move into position. Although everyone’s circumstance is different, in most cases the process is completed in about one year.
