2 Types of Unique Sedation from a Dentist in Scripps Ranch

There are countless reasons why someone may be afraid to sit in the dental chair—or they simply physically can’t for an extended amount of time. Whether it be anxiety, anticipated discomfort, or even special needs, MOD Squad Dental has unique sedation services that can help any patient relax. One of the highest priorities of our office is making sure that all our patients can receive the dental care they need and deserve pleasantly and comfortably. That’s why we proudly offer sedation dentistry. When you choose to visit a dentist in Scripps Ranch that specializes in sedation, you’re ensuring that you’ll experience a new level of relaxation during your dental appointments.

What types of sedation are offered at MOD Squad Dental?

Dr. Greg Friedman and the rest of our dental team truly cares about each patient’s experience because that leads to a long-lasting positive impression for dental visits to come in the future. For that reason, we offer two types of sedation for suitable candidates. Don’t postpone your dental care any longer. Take advantage of our expertise and advances in modern medicine with our two sedation options: oral sedation with Triazolam and computer controlled sedation (The Wand).

Sedation with Triazolam

When a patient is anxious or simply can’t sit in the dental chair long enough to receive the work their smile needs, Dr. Friedman may recommend our “sleep” sedation. Basically, your Scripps Ranch sedation dentist will crush the small blue pill and mix it with a flavored mint for taste purposes. Then, the bits will dissolve beneath your tongue. You’ll relax enough for 40-50 minutes to allow Dr. Friedman to preform whatever dental service is necessary.

Computer Controlled Sedation (The Wand)

When we say we have advanced dental technology, this is what we’re referring to. The Wand is an innovative computer-controlled local anesthesia injection that allows us to preform much more precise dental practices. We can predict comfortable injections, which is especially important for procedures that are going to be performed in an area already experiencing pain. Not only is it more precise, but the microprocessor within the wand regulates the distribution of the anesthesia so that patients don’t feel a thing!

Who are “textbook” sedation patients?

Sedation dentistry is great for patients with dental anxiety or severe dental phobia. Just because you have a fear of visiting the dentist doesn’t mean that your smile will stay healthy through the years of neglect. Sedation is also great for patients with disabilities or special needs that may interfere while Dr. Friedman is working on cleaning their teeth. You may also want to consider sedation dentistry in Scripps Ranch if:

  • You have a low pain threshold and extensive dental work.
  • Can’t sit still in the dentist’s chair.
  • Have very sensitive teeth and gums.
  • Have a bad gag reflex.
  • Need multiple dental treatments to be completed.
